Everything is on internet: Reflection 1

In general, I find the presentation to be informative and it covers essential points regarding the challenges and opportunities that the internet presents in the educational sphere. It focuses on an important contemporary issue: the impact of technology and internet usage on education and student development.

The presentation clearly highlights the problems associated with excessive use of social media, overstimulation, misinformation, and clickbait. It explains how these factors can affect students' attention, concentration, learning, and overall well-being.

Not only does the presentation describe these issues, but it also provides strategies and recommendations for healthy technology use both in the classroom and at home. It includes questions at the end, which is a good way to promote reflection and debate, regardless of location. Furthermore, it emphasizes the fundamental role of teachers as guides and facilitators in the digital environment, underscoring the need to teach students how to navigate, critically evaluate information, and distinguish between reliable sources and misinformation.

Personally, I believe the internet has strengths. When used appropriately, it provides access to a wealth of information on various topics, allowing educators and students to use that information as an educational and research tool. Of course, it is crucial to validate that this information is substantial and truthful to avoid falling into misinformation.

In the educational context, the internet also offers a range of learning resources, such as online courses, tutorials, digital libraries, applications to reinforce teaching, and learning platforms. These allow individuals to acquire new skills and knowledge at their own pace.

Additionally, it is incredibly useful as a means of communication with friends, family, and work teams, regardless of distance, helping strengthen social relationships and collaboration. It also provides various tools for people to express their creativity through writing, art, and music, sharing their creations with a global audience.

Similarly, social media and online forums allow individuals to join communities based on shared interests, offering a sense of belonging and social support. This can be particularly valuable for those who feel isolated or want to share experiences.

However, I agree with the presentation on various harmful aspects of the internet, such as internet addiction, which can lead to mental health issues like depression and sleep disorders. Misinformation and fake news can influence public opinion and create confusion. I'd also like to add other issues associated with social media, such as digital harassment, which can have psychological impacts on victims; echo chambers, where users only see content aligned with their opinions, hindering diverse perspectives; physical issues like sedentary behavior, visual fatigue, and posture problems; cybercrime, such as banking fraud and malicious software; privacy breaches due to massive data collection by companies; and inappropriate and illegal content, such as hate speech that incites violence.

Finally, I believe the presentation is valuable and timely overall. It addresses a critical topic with clarity and has prompted thoughtful reflection on these issues.
