Technology in education Pros and Cons: Reflection 2

Technology in education

The reflection of today mention some at the beginning of the class, accessibility of technology. For some people any device, app, or platform is something that is naturally present in our life, that includes in education.

Over the pass of the time, having a computer or cellphone is normal for the average student, meaning that the way of how do they learn is different. Why do they need to read book in order to learn new knowledge that they usually search in google?

As teachers, we must be prepared to change our method of teaching, even when that does not mean an increase in the salary. Years before in Costa Rica it was common to play the educator based on their knowledge, meaning if they take a technology course they would receive a compensation for it.

However, nowadays, the normalization of the use of technology is seen as another skill that the teacher must have known, not a plus of their services. The problem is the real necessity of having technological knowledge, day by day, a lot of students lost the motivation of their studies for fictional lives on the internet. As a solution, we can propose to limit their access to the internet or completely forbid it from the future generation. But something as the internet/technology can not be easily remove or changed, so what about to use it to improve our classes?

It is true that a dependency on the technology could affect the level of education, despite the reality is different from the dream of having students that only read physical books. The good implementation of technology is crucial to improve the motivation in the average student, nowadays, they are overstimulated for the constant uses of devices. But instead of having a worthless battle against hat we can implement activities that not only motivate them but also shows the new generation of cellphones, computers, tablets, as tools more than only a screen to see videos or play video games.
